Triathlon – SWIM – Chicago, 2011

In the following slide show, walk along with me to and from the swim portion of Chicago’s Triathlon. It was crisp and sunny this morning, a perfect day to enjoy the outdoors and the wonders of the human body.

There are thousands of tourists in town. One participant (staying at our home!) said, “This race is incredibly well-organized.” Nice for me to hear as a Chicagoan.

All the swimmers/bikers/runners deserve congratulations for keeping so marvelously fit.  I hear the oldest participant was 81.

That means there’s hope for many of us, yet!!!

Rahm, Derrick Rose, and Oprah Reign in Chicago

It’s an exciting week in Chicago. Read all about it: Chicago Tribune: Chicago news, sports, weather and traffic – chicagotribune.com.

At Millennium Park today, Rahm Emanuel will be sworn in as Mayor. The leaves are back on the trees. The sun is shining. The lines are beginning to form.

At the United Center tomorrow, Oprah will be taping her Monday and Tuesdays shows, while her grand finale will  be aired on Wednesday,  May 25.

At the United Center on Wednesday, the Bulls, with Derrick Rose as MVP, will play Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Miami Heat. Last night they beat 103-82. It’s beginning to feel like the Jordan/Pippen days of long ago!

A great kick-off week for what we hope will finally be springtime in Chicago.  Join us!

The “Tip” of Fall at Millennium Park

After a very fun week of book-related activities, I took a breather and marveled at the brilliance of changing colors across Millennium Park.

When I was teaching, I’d memorize the green-red-yellow colors of fall, thinking I may not notice seasonal changes again until Christmas break. Now, in retirement, I can bask in the color changes any time I choose!

More about the recent highs of my Caring Lessons life later…
