Thanks to Jason Kurtz for starting South Dakota Writes last spring. SDW has brought together hundreds of writers in South Dakota who meet up on Facebook and at in-person venues. They hosted a Winter Author Book Fair in Sioux Falls on Saturday, December 10, 2016. Caring Lessons was there!
A very fun thing that happens at book fairs is meeting potential readers of your book. I was thrilled to meet three nurses. We quickly established common bonds—one went to the University of Illinois like I did, all like to read, one invited me to a nurses’ book club, and even though older, some still practice nursing part-time. The book fair lasted four hours, and I think we nurses chatted for over an hour of that time, plus we made plans to meet again.
And a local TV station was there. In an interview with Jason Kurtz, KSFY showed a clip on the 10pm news. And there I was behind Jason’s shoulder and then again bent over and signing a book.
Thanks, Jason, for starting an organization for writers that this writer new to South Dakota greatly appreciates! SDW is a wonderful way to meet other writers and hear about their work. Read more about Jason on his LinkedIn site.
