“That is great that you thought of having a book launch party, Lois,” a newly published author friend of mine told me recently. “I wish I would have thought of it. And now it’s too late.”

I sort of always knew that if I ever got my book published, I would have to do something to let the whole world know. Well, not exactly the whole world, but at least close friends.

So Marv and I invited our “city” friends over recently and in they trooped–a steady stream for five hours, from 3pm to 8pm. Because our apartment is smallish compared to our previous homes, we extended the time frame and hoped everyone would not show up at once. Which they didn’t. Such a heartwarming evening!

A writing friend sent the Fruit Tree, and it served as the tasty, bright, eye-catching centerpiece. My daughter sent her “sinfully rich” multi-chip cookies and homemade peanut brittle. Marv made banana bread. I supplied the foods that could be purchased! Crackers, humus, cheese, grapes…

And Marv took my picture:

But the real blessing of the evening were our friends. I am so thankful for each of those well-wishers!

Even if Marv, at 8:30pm, had to tell the last two couples it was time to leave!
