Yes, I had the reading of Caring Lessons today at the Women & Children First bookstore on North Clark in Chicago. As a first-time author, I appreciate their cordial willingness to host me. And I’m thankful for new and old friends, plus two of my former writing teachers, that showed up. The staff told me afterward that the size of the crowd was really great. About 25!
My neighbor in our high-rise asked to be my photographer for the event. She planned pictures and dragged me around to pose for them. What a great friend is that! She said I had to have one taken outside (after I’d already taken off my coat) next to the display of Caring Lessons.
Marv acted as “Lois’s taxi driver” along with presiding over the snacks. My out-of-state daughter, once again, baked her multi-chip cookies and sent them by priority mail.
I always have notes for back-up, but usually end up, as several attendees said, “telling stories”.
Thanks, again, to all who helped make this a well-attended and fun Caring Lessons event! I am filled with gratitude.
