Macy’s Flower Show is at the State Street store through Saturday, April 4.
Getting off the elevator on the 9th floor, we encountered a friendly guide who directed us through the cavernous space to the show. This floor, most of which is normally vacant, has been transformed for the first time into a cheerful wine and light lunch/pastry shop, tempting gift displays, and a breath-taking conservatory.
Look for the bed spring doubling as a flower-pot holder, pond (with non-functioning waterfall), realistic scenes from “Brasil“, and a festive toucan. A docent from the Garfield Conservatory told us that bird alone has 9,000 buds in its bill and took several workers over 4 days to assemble.
We also savored samples of a moist, decadent brownie, and my gardener husband picked out a blooming pink azalea to take home. Enter and enjoy.
Quite a show! If I don’t get down, at least I will have seen this. Thanks.

You’re welcome. The place was jammed. I’m sure it will be worse as the time passes.

It was–right in the middle of a department store in the middle of a city. You could tell on people’s faces that they were much in awe. A fun thing! Thanks.

As for me, I especially appreciated seeing that wonderful book (by Dr. Roelofs) featured in the right corner of the top photo. Wish I could have sauntered around with you! Kay

Well, come on over and we’ll take a walk in the park! Every now and then “Caring Lessons” gets antsy on my desk and has to take a walk too. Thus the header on this blog today shows one of its stops by the Bean:):):)

Hard to believe this was all on the 9th floor in a department store. Lovely exhibits!

That’s what is unreal about this. Like walking into the Lincoln Park Conservatory but inside a block-wide and a block-long building.
