Views from Navy Pier, Chicago – December 2013

Fog blanketed our bus last week as we rode to see The Merry Wives of Windsor at Shakespeare Theater on Navy Pier. Where thousands throng in summer, ice chunks float in winter.

Top — looking south from the north side of the pier; middle — looking west toward the city; bottom — looking south from the south side of the pier.

    I was there Thursday evening to see “Merry Wives”; getting to the Shakespeare was a mess–and getting out of there was worse as the passageways used in were closed as they worked. And on top of that, the play wasn’t all that good either!

        I’m rarely a fan of slapstick (although I loved, yesterday, “The Mikado” by the Hypocrites) and other then a few chuckles, I thought this “Merry Wives” was misguided. I’m not a purist (or I wouldn’t have like “The Mikado) but there are limits . . .
